Rice cookers were invented in 1955 in Japan, and since then the innovations have been galore thick and fast. Rice cookers have been making lives easier around the globe for all that time now.

We at Asal ventured into the manufacturing of rice cookers almost a decade back. We have, however, learned the craft rigorously and have mastered the art of making these super-utility appliances.

Normally our blogs are about getting you acquainted with Asal’s range of products. But today, we thought why not give you some handy tricks you can use while using the rice cookers.

These small interventions, which we like to call tricks, will help you make the rice cookers more efficient and save yourself a lot of time in the process.

All rice is not the same!

As per experts, there are over 1,20,000 different varieties of rice in the world. And isn’t it fitting that every rice type requires a different cooking time? For example, a cup of white rice will take about 17 to 20 minutes to cook, while the same amount of brown rice might take up to an hour.

Now the question is how do you know what type requires how much time? There is a manual with every Asal rice cooker and it is always better to look into the manual than assume and guess how much time you should take to cook the rice.

All rice requires a different amount of water!

Like the cooking time, the amount of water you use to cook different kinds of rice also varies. If you try to figure out how much water to use on your own, it might spoil your rice quite a few times before you actually perfect it.

Why take a risk when you have the Asal user manual with you. You will get all the important information there. Make life easier.

Water or stock?

Normally we cook our rice in water. But it is not necessary we do that always. We can use stock, from say a chicken or a meat dish, to cook the rice. The rice will taste great and if the stock is used hot, the cooking time will also be curtailed considerably.

There are some further points as well, that we need to put across to you but those will be discussed in the next part of this blog. Keep watching this space.
